Lot Essay

Reza Mafi, like his close contemporary Mohammed Ehsai, was a classically trained calligrapher, who came to large-scale oil painting as a means of abstract expression using calligraphic forms. As with Ehsai, this he did in parallel to his classical calligraphic compositions.
