A ROMANO-CELTIC OPENWORK BRONZE CIRCULAR HARNESS MOUNT
2ND-4TH CENTURY A.D.
Of trompetenmuster style, 2¾ in. (7 cm.) diam.; a bronze belt buckle and dorsal plate, with spiral patterns and remains of tinned decoration, circa 4th Century A.D., 3 in. (7.6 cm.) across; a Merovingian iron buckle with traces of silver inlay; another in bronze with serpent-like interlaced decoration, both 6th-7th Century A.D., 4 3/8 in. (11 cm.) long max.; and a large quantity of mainly Roman and Medieval bronze buckles and belt loops of various periods, including two bronze buckles with either human head or bird ornament; and a bird harness pendant, 12th-13th Century A.D., 3 3/8 in. (8.6 cm.) long max.(a lot)
