2° (337 x 212mm). Leaf e3 cancelled as required, with cancel slip on A6r. Engraved portrait frontispiece after Simon de Passe, engraved additional title-page by Renold Elstrack, full-page woodcut of the Royal arms, engraved portrait of Charles, Prince of Wales, by Passe, woodcut ornamental head- and tailpieces, historiated initials. (Without blanks e4 and final Bbb4, faint browning in one sheet.) Contemporary calf, sides with gilt and blind fillet border and central gilt lozenge, red sprinkled edges (rebacked).

FIRST EDITION of King James's English works, "typographically ... one of the finest specimens of Jacobean book production" (Jackson). It was re-issued in 1620 with a supplement. Pforzheimer 531; STC 14344.
