Imari, early 18th Century
Decorated in iron-red enamels and gilt on an underglaze blue ground, the body with rectangular, geometric and book-shaped panels containing sprays of flowers, lakeside scenes with pavilions and boats, and birds in flight around flowering trees, the whole on a ground of scrolling karakusa, the finial replaced with a gold painted lotus bud
