AN INDO-PORTUGUESE IVORY AND MARQUETRY INLAID BLACKWOOD CHEST
LATE 17TH OR EARLY 18TH CENTURY
The hardwood veneered carcase inlaid and pinned with a variety of wood and ivory segments, the top sides and front decorated with a vase of flowers in a broad border of flowerheads with caryatids at each corner, the hinged front revealing an arrangement of six drawers, the lock, hinges and corner mounts of pierced gilt engraved brass
13¾ in. (35 cm.) high; 13 in. (33 cm.) wide; 17¼ in. (44 cm.) deep
