Lot Essay

A member of The '43 Group, Sri Lanka's most internationally renowned art movement. Combining a local sentiment with an international idiom Ranjit Fernando sought to realise the artistic potential of the ancient myths and legends of the Buddhists and the Hindus, which received little attention from most Westernized intellectuals.
