The Anatomy of the Horse. Including a Particular Description of the Bones, Cartilages, Muscles, Fascias, Ligaments, Nerves, Arteries, Veins and Glands ... all done from Nature. London: J. Purser for the author, 1766 [but plates watermarked 1823]. Oblong 2° (445 x 558mm), 24 engraved plates by Stubbs (plates with sporadic spotting throughout, last plate with tiny hole affecting image, three plates with light pencil annotation in a neat hand, short marginal tears to title and several plates, some light browning to text), early 20th century half roan, top edge gilt (rather worn). Provenance: 20th century ink presentation inscription to title.
