Lot Essay

This overmantel mirror has similarities to Irish mirrors of the 18th Century. Rusticated columns are a common feature on Irish mirrors and can be seen on a giltwood pier glass by Francis and John Booker of circa 1765 (see The Knight of Glin and J. Peill, Irish Furniture, New Haven and London, 2007, p. 266, cat. no. 243).
