Lot Essay

A closely related pair of fauteuils stamped by Chenaux, from the Collection of Mrs Dorothy and the late Wendell Cherry, was sold at Sotheby's New York, 10 December 1994. A further example by Chenaux is illustrated in Pierre Kjellberg, Le Mobilier Francais du XVIII Siecle, Paris, 1998, p. 176.
