Lot Essay

With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with silvered dial and raised gold hour markers in 1945 and its subsequent sale on 7 December 1945. It has never been offered in public before.

Reference 1450, also known as the "Top Hat" model amongst collectors, was in production from 1940 until the 1960s. The model is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by M. Huber & A. Banbery, first edition p. 113, pl. 158, second edition, p. 137, pl. 196 and in Armbanduhren by G. Negretti, F. Nencini, p. 217, pl. 156-157.
