from the set 'Kasen awase' (A Matching Game of Shells); eighteen further surimono by Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849), Katsukawa Shunsho (1726-93), Kitao Shigemasa (1739-1820), Katsukawa Shinsai (1770-1820) and other surimono artists, variously illustrating scholars, poets, bijin, birds and animals and precious objects, one issued for the Taikogawa with their drum seal -- the largest 8in. x 6¾in. (20.4cm. x 17.2cm.), nine mounted on paper; and eight further prints from the 18th, 19th and 20th century. (29)
