The inverted bell top case decorated with chinoiserie designs and surmounted by five brass flaming urn finials, with caryatid and flowerhead mounts to the front angles and brass handles to the sides, these above silk-backed gilt-painted sound frets, resting on probably later foliate cast scroll feet, the brass dial with foliate spandrels to silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, matted centre with mock pendulum aperture, blued steel hands, the arch with engraved border and subsidiary rings for date and chime silent, flanking a recessed plaque signed 'John Scott/London', the eight day movement with six pillars, triple gut fusees and reconverted verge escapement, with hour strike on single bell and quarter chimes on eight further bells, the back plate profusely engraved with foliage and interlaced C-scrolls around a signature reserve signed 'John Scott/London', secured to the case with engraved brackets; winding key, case key
