My Fair Lady was released in the UK on 21 January, 1965. On seeing the film, and aware of Cecil Beaton's involvement with it, the vendor of this lot rang up Beaton's studio to enquire about the possibility of acquiring a Beaton photograph of Audrey Hepburn as Eliza. To the vendor's great surprise, Beaton himself answered the telephone; the brisk reponse to the vendor's enquiry was ...send me two guineas in the post and I shall then send you a print in return.
