A FINE OTTOMAN SILVER-ENCRUSTED HORSEMAN'S AXE (TABARZIN)
18TH CENTURY
With robust iron head inlaid with panels of silver arabesques sewn with silver pellets and incorporating a very brief inscription along the top edge, fabric-covered wooden haft fitted with long silver collar and tubular grip, each with matching chased designs of trophies, flowers and scrolls, and the grip with small ring for a tassel or thong (the head retaining cap replaced)
