A VERY RARE INDIAN MATCHLOCK PISTOL
18TH/EARLY 19TH CENTURY
With sighted tapering barrel formed in three stages divided by raised mouldings, flared muzzle, the breech fitted with pan, pivoted iron match-holder, shaped iron trigger, carved moulded wooden full stock decorated with painted bands of foliage over its length and a trellis pattern of flowerheads behind the breech, the butt modelled on the French style, and with silver swivel for suspension (the pan-cover, pricker and pricker-holder each missing, the painted ornament rubbed towards the muzzle, ramrod replaced)
