The case with brass handle and foliate cast brass finials to inverted bell top, brass-lined arched and glazed side panels, with similarly brass-lined front and rear doors, each with brass-lined and silk-backed quarter frets, the moulded base raised on block feet, the 6 in. (15 cm.) wide brass dial with Indian mask and foliate spandrels to silvered Roman and Arabic dial with diamond half-hour markers, matted centre with mock pendulum aperture, signed on a silvered plaque above the date aperture 'Jam.s Vick/London', strike/not strike lever by III, with pendulum regulation to the arch, the eight day movement with five pillars, twin gut fusees and verge escapement with spring-suspended pendulum, hour strike on bell and pull quarter repeat on a nest of six bells, the back plate profusely engraved with scrolls and foliage and with sliding holdfast
