Three sets of World War II recognition models
American; circa 1944
for the British, German and Japanese Navies; the first set by H. A. Frambourg & Co. of Chicago, Il for the U.S. Navy Bureau of Aeronautics - Special Devices Division (Device Number 5A - Serial Number 352) of British Miniature Ship Models, including 29 different ships, each mounted on a painted blue board that slides out of the box, including the H.M.S. Queen Elizabeth, H.M.S. King George V class, H.M.S. Renown class, and the H.M.S. Illustrious class among others. The second set by Comet Metal Products of Richmond Hill, N.Y. for the U.S. Navy and marked on the case "U.S. Navy Miniature Models - German Navy" including 15 different ships, each mounted as with the first set, including the S.M.S Lutzow, S.M.S. Prinz Eugen, and the S.M.S Tirpitz among others. The third set, the first of two boxes for the Japanese Navy, and marked on the outside of the box "U.S. Navy Miniature Models - Japanese Navy Sup #1", and with the same maker as the German set, including 8 different ships, each mounted as with the first and second sets; including the Mizuho class, the Katori class and the Hosho class. Each model in white metal and painted grey.
