Lot Essay

The sculpted head by Henri Gaudier-Brzeska (1891-1915), seen on the left side of the composition, was cast in stone composite in an edition of twelve in 1912. One of these casts was offered in these Rooms in the sale of 20th Century British Art, 24 November 2001, lot 109 for 5500 pounds.
