Correspondence relating to art, books and Ruskin's publications. Ruskin writes to the publisher Smith, complaining about the 'exorbitant' prices of lithographs and expressing concern, 'In the Imperial copies, there were two Prefaces in each. I hope this mistake has not been generally made as it looks absurd'. He compliments G.C. Whitworth on his book ('I am sincerely glad to see a subject so fatally neglected taken up'), and has high praise for a volume of poems 'I have had great pleasure in reading them -- as ... must be the case with every faithful lover of Derwent Water' which Ruskin still claims to be despite a 'more reverent devotion to the Alps'. He lets Charles MacKay know that he is keen to chat with him 'on the questions which I know interest you so deeply ... of more immediate importance than art criticism', and asks Mr Ellis to find him a 'not very rare or expensive edition of Joinville'.
