A GERMAN EXECUTIONER'S SWORD
DATED 1709
With broad flat blade cut with a gibbet device inlaid in latten on one side at the forte, a Wheel of Justice device also in latten on the opposing side, and cut with a brief inscription together with the date on one side towards the point, brass hilt cast with panels of scrollwork in low relief on a contrasting matted ground, and the grip retaining its original wire binding (binding loose)
