BOLOGNA 1672 -- STANZANI, Tomaso. Fiori epitalamici racolta da gli Accademici Solleuati, E nelle Felicissime Nozze degl'Ill.tni Signori Cavaliere, Conte Filippo Maria Bentivogli E della Contesa Maria Cecilia Vizani. Bologna: Manolessi, 1672.

4o (193 x 133 mm). Engraved frontispiece portrait of the bride's and groom's coat-of-arms by J.M. MITELLUS, 2 engraved folding plates by PIETRO TODESCHI after HERCOLE RIUANI (some minor staining, one plate slightly trimmed along outer edge). (Minor dampstaining to quire A.) Modern blue morocco, gilt-lettered on spine.

The opera performed in honor of the wedding of FILIPPO MARIA BENTIVOGLIO and MARIA CECILIA VIZANI. The libretto was written by TOMASO STANZANI, who also designed the elaborate set decorations as illustrated in the folding plates. The Vizanis and Bentivoglios were both notable Bolognese families, and this wedding, along with the powerful union of the two families, must have been the cause for much celebration.
