Lot Essay

With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with silvered dial and applied hour markers in 1938 and its subsequent sale on 27 February 1939.

To the best of our knowledge, this watch is one of only two examples of reference 605-3 in yellow gold to appear in public to date.

Reference 605 was in production from the mid 1930s until the mid 1950s and is more commonly associated with the celebrated World Time watch, reference 605 HU. Mainly fitted with calibre 17'''140 or 17'''145, versions with calibre 17''', such as the present watch, were assigned reference 605-3.
