A young gentleman, in naval uniform, blue double-breasted coat with red trim, brass buttons, gold epaulettes, white stock
signed with initials 'ITB' (lower right)
on ivory
oval, 2½ in. (63 mm.) high, gilt-metal frame, the reverse centred with gold monogram 'AL' on opalescent glass on stamped foil, framed by band of plaited hair
