Major show of the Swedish Ballets, Skating Rink develops around the subject of the madness of the "roller skate", idea widely exploited a little earlier by Charlie Chaplin in its silent movie The Rink in 1916. The producer Rolf de Mare invited Fernand Lger to create the scenery of the ballet. Their collaboration engendered a cubist work dealing with dear subjects to Léger, the city and the modernity of the technique. The first representation took place in the Theater of Champs-Elyses in Paris, on January 20th in 1922.
