A bronze incense burner (koro) with heron and crow
Meiji period (19th century), signed in inlaid seal Katsuyori
The heron and crow perched upon raised tree stumps protruding from a quickly flowing stream, both with inlaid gold eyes and the heron with a removable lid on its back, all set on a short plinth bordered in archaistic scroll
34½in. (87.6cm.) high; base 2in. (5cm.)
With black lacquer storage box inscribed in gold Rogata chudo, shirosagi to karasu, Katsuyori zo (a wax-cast bronze, heron and crow, by Katsuyori)
