A silver-mounted rectangular wooden box
Meiji-Taisho Period (early 20th century), signed Koho koku (carved by Koho [Miyazaki Koho])
The rectangular wood box on four short bracket feet mounted on the lid with a rectangular metal plaque chiseled with branches of an old pine growing from a craggy rock, finished in silver, entwined with vines of ivy with leaves patinated in copper and gold, the ground of the plaque with a goldish brown patina, engraved signature at lower left
6 1/8 x 5 x 2in. (15.5 x 12 x 5cm.)
Wood box lid inscribed Oimatsu (old pine), signed Miyazaki Koho and sealed Koho on the reverse
