Finely carved on the convex side in the liu qing technique, reserving the skin of the bamboo, with a scholar and his attendant crossing a bridge beneath a tall wutong tree, ascending a steep stepped path through the distant mountains, inscribed with the maker's name Xihuang in the upper right hand corner 9 7/8 in.
