A PARCEL-GILT BRONZE ARCHAISTIC VESSEL, FANGDING
LATE MING DYNASTY, 17TH CENTURY

The heavily cast rectangular vessel raised on four cylindrical legs issuing from lion masks, the four sides cast with taotie masks reserved on a leiwen ground below a band of pairs of stylised phoenix confronting a lion mask, all divided by flanges cast with key fret repeated at the corners, with further keyfret on the mouth rim and bail handles
