Lot Essay

This drum is used in the "Gcod" practice, where one plays the drum and shinbone horn and asks the spirits to feast on one's body, thereby removing the ego. For a similar example, see P. Pal, Tibet, Tradition and Change, 1997, p. 173, pl. 86.
