The acabthus cast handle above a crisply cast body the upper rim inscribed AVE MARIA GRACIA PLENA above a frieze depicting the Virgin and probably the Archangel Gabriel flanked and divided by putti and flowervases above the inscription IC BEN GHEGOTEN INT IAR MDXLVII

Lot Essay

Johan van den Eynde, called Johan a Fine was born in Malines in 1515. He is recorded having been working there until 1545 when he moved to Antwerp where he worked until after 1556.
