A SOUTH ARABIAN LIMESTONE INSCRIBED PILLAR STELE
CIRCA 1ST CENTURY A.D.
Finely carved with an eighteen line inscription reading "'Martadhum dhu-Raban leader of the banw Gadanam dedicated this bronze statue to Almaqah the Master of Sha'ban so that He may bestow well-being to his lords Rabam Akhtar and Ha'an and Asa'ad banu Gadanam and Habtalam and Zabnam and that Almaqah Master of Sha'ban may fulfil all the requests they asked of Him and may Almaqah continue to fulfil all the requests which his servant Martadham asks of him and may Almaqah bestow success upon them in all their enterprises... their lords the banu Gadanam in the town Nashqam and may Almaqah protect them from harm and from the evil eye of the enemies; for Almaqah Master of Sha'ban and for dhat Nashqam", the top with two mortices for attachment of the bronze statue mentioned in the inscription, mounted
