Lot Essay

The approx. knot count is 7H x 7.5V per sq. cm.

It is very rare to find Isfahan rugs of this period woven in silk. The drawing of the scrolls in particular is very close to those of the wool "prayer rug" side of the very rare double-sided wool and silk Isfahan rug woven by the workshop of 'Abd al-Baqi Kashani that is offered as lot 66 in the sale that starts immediately after the Roubeni Collection.
