Lot Essay

Brian Irving studied furniture design at the London College of Furniture 1979-1981. He worked with seminal photographer Angus McBean 1983-1990, carving the first arm frame in 1984 for a 1940's photograph of Elizabeth Welch. It is estimated that only approximately fifteen arm frames were ever produced.
