Édition originale du célèbre livre érotique de Man Ray. Tirage limité à 215 exemplaires numérotés, celui-ci l'un des 160 exemplaires sur Montval (numérotés de 56 à 215, le n° 215). À la demande d'Aragon, Man Ray fournira des photographies érotiques le mettant en scène avec Alice Prin, plus connue sous le nom de Kiki de Montparnasse. "This notorious work, clandestinely printed in Brussels, is entirely representative of the Surrealist book. It is extreemly rare; not many of the original edition of 215 remain, as when they arrived in Paris many of them were seized and then destroyed by customs officers... 1929 is, of course, a prime example of the Surrealists' endemic desire to shock and subvert - épater les bourgeois - frequently expressed through an almost schoolboyish obsession with matters sexual and a virulent atheism" (Parr-Badger II, 138).
