Lot Essay

In the 1912 article this table is one of two piece of furniture singled out for attention, "Among them [furniture] are a cabinet in the Chinese Chippendale manner and the table of delicate fretwork in the great man's more usual manner." The article also reiterates the supposition that these two pieces were removed from Kinross to Stobo in 1819.
