(G2 and first 4 plates heavily spotted, light occasional spotting throughout with one or two plates more heavily affected.) Contemporary panelled calf, middle panel ruled with a triple gilt fillet, a small outer swag-and-tail roll-tooled border, and larger inner tooling of repeated arcs with foliate infill and interspersed with thistles, the whole enclosing a central gilt rosette, gilt spine, re-backed in the 19th-century with marbled endpapers and gilt turn-ins, gilt edges (extremities rubbed).
