WINSTON SPENCER CHURCHILL Originally my husband Winston found our apartment in Belgrave Square; and later when I visited it with him it was love at first sight. Its spacious rooms immediately inspired me once again to take up my passion for auction rooms. My husband was the grandson of Winston Churchill KG, and the only son of Randolph Churchill and his wife the famous Pamela Harriman. Needless to say, he inherited a great deal of unique mementos during the course of their exceptional lives. We were very fortunate to be able to rely on these family possessions around which we built the rest of our collection. Eventually the rooms were completed with the furniture and objects which we collected over the years. After my husband's death I did not want to live with the memories in a home I had loved for so many years and where we had been so very happy. Classic interiors stand the test of time and hopefully our collection will bring new joy to other families. Luce Spencer Churchill "The purchase of this apartment in a town house designed by George Basevi, John Soane's most famous pupil, signalled the start of an intense period of activity for Luce, who as a jewellery designer and former decorator, assumed control of a two year campaign of restoration and renewal" R. Shore, 'The Churchills in London', Veranda Magazine, November-December 2001.
