Lot Essay

The upper inscription cartouche reads "Milani 92".

A similar carpet by the same weaver but woven in silk was sold in these Rooms on 7 October 2010, lot 212. It bears the same idea of a lattice design containing various repeated trees without the strong concentric overlaid lozenge pattern and the little fruit plates in the middle.
