This image of a US Marine in Hue, Vietnam, is foremost among Don
McCullin's indelible documents of the trauma of war. The caption in
his autobiography explains: 'A "grunt" (infantryman) suffering severe
shell shock awaits transportation away from the battle.' This image has become celebrated as one of the greatest examples of photojournalism and war photography.
