Meiji period (late 19th century), with signature Zeshin on base
Decorated with inlaid glazed stoneware, lead and horn with warabi (edible ferns) and a tobacco pouch and simulated-bamboo pipe case on the reverse, all against a brown lacquer ground simulating corroded iron, the interiors roiro; with a wood netsuke of a chestnut signed Sosui and with a coral bead ojime
