AN ITALIAN RENAISSANCE-STYLE COIN-MOUNTED GILTWOOD CASSONE
CIRCA 1860-80
The eared top centred by a coat-of-arms with lion supporters, flanked by scrolling acanthus on a pounced ground, above a moulded ribbon-wrapped frieze above scalloped arcaded niches with Roman soldiers and figures, centred by Caesar and with St. George slaying the dragon to one corner, on a moulded plinth and lion's-paw feet, with an inventory label 'D3619', some soldiers lacking weapons
