A gray schist seated Buddha
Gandhara, 2nd/3rd Century
Seated in dhyanasana on a throne with carved claw feet with his hands in dharmachakramudra, dressed in a tight-fitting sanghati elegantly carved over the left shoulder, the face with bow-shaped lips and heavy-lidded eyes centered by a raised urna, the hair pulled over the ushnisha, backed by a nimbus, with a fire altar flanked by kneeling attendants at the base
