Lot Essay

Carmela Rubin has confirmed the authenticity of this painting.

In 1928 Rubin travelled to New York from Romania, where he established a studio overlooking Bryant Park. By chance he met an old acquaintance from Romania, Adolph Stone, who invited the artist to visit him at his country home in Peekskill, New York, depicted in the present lot.
