Lot Essay
The Baojin Zhai Rubbing was carved by Cao Zhige in the Southern Song period and the entire work consisted of ten volumes. The original calligraphy is now lost and few rubbings remain. Therefore, Ming and Qing collectors had only incomplete collections of this set of rubbings. This lot is comprised of two volumes, one of which was owned by Gui Fu, who inscribed it more than thirty times. The volume owned by Gui Fu is a Song rubbing, while the other is a Ming rubbing.
