A GREEK BRONZE BUST OF DIONYSOS
LATE HELLENISTIC PERIOD, CIRCA 2ND-1ST CENTURY B.C.
The head turned to the left, with a wreath of ivy leaves and berries in the centre-parted hair, the headband and eyes inlaid in silver, the pupils deeply recessed, the bust draped with a deer skin knotted on his right shoulder with hooves hanging down, and chalmys draped over left shoulder
4¾ in. (2 cm.) high
