FIRST EDITION of the royal historiographer's second work on Turkey, popular enough to reach five editions by 1652, and be included in volume II of Chalcondyle's Histoire général des Turcs. Atabey 70: 'Baudier's account of the Serrail, in its numerous editions, contributed greatly to the exotic qualities of the French conception of the Turk' (refers to this second copy); not in Blackmer.
