A LARGE KHORASSAN BRONZE LAMPSTAND
NORTH EAST IRAN, 13TH CENTURY
The stand in three sections with bayonet joints, rising from three paired hoof feet to flat shoulder with engraved swirling vegetal decoration through dome-shaped section to tubular shaft, extending to long central hexagonal-section shaft with bosses at either end, the top with wide circular tray with raised rim with engraved strapwork on exterior, vegetal openwork scrolls on shaft, bosses and dome-shaped section, bands of engraved calligraphy on either end of shaft and around top of dome-shaped section, with associated, and probably later oil lamp
