AN IVORY HILTED SWORD (TULWAR)
NORTH INDIA, EARLY 19TH CENTURY
With fine watered-steel single-edged curved blade tapering to point at end, with crown under rising sun and letter 'T' with surrounding scrolling etched into blade, the ivory hilt with curved pommel in shape of lion's head with inset eyes and engraved facial details and fur, quillon finials in shape of smaller lions' heads, inlaid silver scrolls set into lower part of grip, scabbard of polychrome floral silk with brass locket, chape and belt hook
