AN ENGLISH REAL STONE CHINA IMARI PATTERN PART DINNER-SERVICE
CIRCA 1830, BLUE PRINTED CROWNED RIBBON MARK AND IRON-RED PAINTED PATTERN NO. 182
Each printed in blue and enriched in iron-red, cobalt blue and gilt with flowering branches issuing from a squat baluster vase on a plank floor before a fretwork fence, the cavetto and border with radiating panels of similar flowering plants and of flowers heads on a blue ground
The soup-tureen stands 12½ in. (31.7 cm.) wide

Lot Essay

This mark was used by Hicks, Meigh & Johnson, circa 1822-35, and also by John Ridgway in the 1830s (see Geoffrey A. Godden, Godden's Guide to Mason's China and The Ironstone Wares, The Antique Collector's Club, 1980, p. 267 for an illustration of the mark).
