Green in color, free-blown, pinched to create four compartments, with a square base and a slightly flaring rim, two sides with dark green folded ribbon thread along their length, which, together with the rim, supports an elaborate towering handle of dark green folded ribbon thread, topped with a small central knob

Lot Essay

This large and elaborate cosmetic tube was most likely only decorative, as the complex superstructure makes it difficult to use as a container. For a related example see no. 77 in Harden, Glass of the Caesars.
